✅ Requirements for Rural Entrepreneur Stream

Please confirm that you meet all of the following eligibility criteria for Alberta’s Rural Entrepreneur Stream. All boxes must be checked to proceed. If you do not meet any criterion, please review the AAIP eligibility requirements before continuing.

Age: I am between 21 and 49 years of age at the time of submitting this form.

Business Experience: I have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an active business owner/manager (with at least 33.3% ownership) OR a minimum of 4 years as a senior manager within the past 10 years.

Education: I have completed a minimum of high school education equivalent to the Canadian standard, verified by an Education Credential Assessment (ECA).

Language Proficiency: I meet the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4 or higher in all four categories (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) in English or French.

Net Worth: I have a minimum personal net worth of CAD $300,000, consisting entirely of my own (or spouse/common-law partner’s) personal assets, legally acquired and verifiable.

Investment Capacity: I am able to make a minimum personal investment of CAD $100,000 from my own (or spouse/common-law partner’s) personal equity into a business in Peace River.

Ownership: I am prepared to hold a minimum ownership of 51% if establishing a new business, OR 100% ownership if purchasing/succeeding an existing business (full buyout required).

Job Creation: I am prepared to create at least one full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (excluding family members) when establishing a new business.

Residency Intent: I intend to permanently reside in Peace River, Alberta, and actively manage the business on a day-to-day basis.

Admissibility: I am not a refugee claimant, not involved in a federal removal or appeal process, and not otherwise inadmissible to Canada.

📋 Note on Community Support Letter: A Community Support Letter from the Town of Peace River is a mandatory requirement for your AAIP Expression of Interest. Completing this pre-screening form is the first step toward obtaining that letter. The Town will review your proposal and, if suitable, schedule an exploratory visit. The letter is only issued after a successful exploratory visit and review of your business proposal.

5. I understand that any exploratory visit to Peace River is entirely at my own expense, and that neither the AAIP nor the Town of Peace River will provide any documentation to support an application for a Temporary Resident Visa for the purposes of an exploratory visit.
